Although the summer transfer
window is officially closed that doesn’t stop clubs working hard behind
the scenes to prepare for future signings, so we’ll keep you up-to-date
with all the latest gossip. Today, Monaco are linked with Theo Walcott.
Big spending French outfit Monaco are said to be lining up a €40m (£34m) bid for Arsenal speedster Theo Walcott this January, according to the Daily Mail.
The 24-year-old had an excellent season
last campaign, netting 21 goals and providing 14 assists to help us claw
back a 10-point deficit to finish above north London rivals Tottenham.
Claudio Ranieri has been spending money
for fun in recent years and signed Radamel Falcao and Joao Moutinho
amongst others in the summer, and it seems he’d like to add Walcott’s
name to that list of arrivals.
But are they likely to be successful if
they do come in with a big-money bid? In a word, no. Walcott fought hard
to secure a new improved contract last January and has showed no signs
of discontent at the Emirates.
Boss Arsene Wenger
is also highly unlikely to entertain any offers for the attacker as he
looks to build a squad capable of sustaining our title push this season,
so I won’t be getting too worried about this.
Walcott is a key member of our squad, as
has been proved over the last few weeks as we’ve sorely missed him
since he’s been out with an abdominal injury. The good news is the boss confirmed on Friday morning that the attacker could be back to face Manchester United next weekend.
